We are an independently owned Life is good® Genuine Neighborhood Shoppe located in Tucson, Arizona. Blue Monkey Trading Company is proud to be one of the first such specialty shops exclusively offering Life is good® clothing and merchandise on the west coast. It is a pleasure for us to share these superb products with you and help spread their message of optimism, while at the same time fulfilling a life-long dream of owning our own business!

Every dream has a beginning... Shannon and Michael Bourassa started out living and working in Boston. Shannon worked with professional photographers and her husband Michael worked for a printing business, and like many other young couples, they thought they were content to be a part of the hustle and bustle. Nevertheless, they could not shake the desire to start up their own business and were constantly on the lookout for just the right spark that would inspire them to do so. They soon started a family and grew tired of the stress of living in a big city, so they relocated to the suburbs. In October of 1999, Michael was hired at a small T-shirt printing company close to home.

Then as fate would have it, they met Jake… In March of 2005, two brothers looking to expand their business bought the factory Michael worked for. Their names were Bert and John Jacobs, and they owned a little T-shirt company called Life is good®. Almost immediately, Michael and Shannon were impressed with the quality and style of their product line, which was unlike any other they had ever seen. The simple graphics and beautiful colors made an impact. But what inspired them most of all was the positive outlook and down-to-earth mentality that they shared with the Jacobs brothers.

And then, the plotting began… During an awe-inspiring autumn season unique only to New England, Shannon's brother Sean came for a visit from his hometown of Tucson, Arizona. The couple shared their dream with him of opening up their very own Life is good® store. Their inspiration and enthusiasm was contagious. Sean caught the bug and suggested Tucson as a possible location. He provided the spark that was needed, and a partnership was born.
